CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT HEIDI A. BUNKER

Chief Master Sergeant Heidi A. Bunker is the seventh Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Ohio Air National Guard, 178th Wing, Springfield Air National Guard Base, Ohio. Chief Bunker advises the Wing Commander and his staff on all matters influencing the mission readiness, professional development, proper utilization, health, morale and welfare of the Wing’s enlisted Airmen and their families. Additionally, she disseminates the commander’s policies to all levels of the enlisted core.

Chief Bunker entered military service in October 1991 and was assigned to the 179th Aerial Port Squadron, Air National Guard Base in Mansfield, Ohio as an Air Transportation Specialist. In 2007, Chief Bunker was selected to become a First Sergeant and was assigned to the 179th Aerial Port Squadron and shortly thereafter she completed the USAF First Sergeant’s Academy in residence. She was then assigned as a First Sergeant to the 179th Logistics Readiness Squadron where she performed an integral role as the primary advisor on enlisted matters within the squadron. In 2011, she was selected as the 179th Air Wing & 164th Operations Group First Sergeant where in addition to advising key leadership on enlisted matters, she was the president of the First Sergeant Council. She served in this position until her appointment to the Human Resources Advisor for the 179th Airlift Wing where she was tasked with ensuring a culture of inclusion and diversity. She also served as a Four Lenses facilitator, served on the Integrated Delivery System and served on the Joint Inclusion Diversity Executive Council at the Joint Force Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Chief Bunker served in this position until her appointment to the Group Superintendent position where she provided leadership and management in organizing, equipping and training enlisted personnel.
