Public Affairs

The 178th Wing Public Affairs Office is the direct link to neighboring communities and the news media. Our mission is to tell the Air Force story, build public trust and support, and enhance Airmen morale and readiness. Public Affairs contributes to global influence and deterrence by releasing timely, accurate information on Air Force people, activities and capabilities.

Media & External Communications

The Public Affairs Office is the 178th Wing's laision with local, regional, national and international news media. We respond to media queries, write news releases on significant events, arrange interviews with spokespersons and coordinate other activities to enhance the relationship with members of the press.

Media are required to be escorted all times while on the installation. Bonafide news media may subscribe to receive e-mailed press releases on base activities. For more information, news media may call 937-327-2321 or 937-327-2216.

Joint Hometown News

You can help tell the Air National Guard story and be recognized by completing a Hometown News Release. Family members and friends always enjoy reading about the accomplishments of those who serve.

The Defense Media Activity's Joint Hometown News Service produces a variety of print and electronic news products highlighting the accomplishments and worldwide activities of individual soldiers and airmen.

Air Force members can also submit a hometown news release to highlight their professional accomplishments and milestones. Examples of activities deserving of recognition include promotions, awards, decorations, changes in assignments, academic degrees, participation in deployments and major exercises.

Airmen directly involved in ISR missions must contact the 178th Public Affairs office prior to submitting a hometown news release.

Visual Information

The 178th Public Affairs Office provides still photography, videography and limited graphics production capabilities to enhance communication for 178th's internal and external customers. Services range from official studio and Passport photos to video editing and production.

Department of Defense customers request support using an AF IMT 833, Multimedia Workorder. Requests must include quantity, type, and size of products and services, describe the planned use and certify that the work is for official business.

The customer's signature (electronic or physical) indicates that the request is for official purposes. Requests need to be physically or electronically signed and emailed to the 178th WG Public Affairs Office.
