Chief Master Sgt. Charles Hansel is the Senior Enlisted Leader of the 178th Wing, Springfield ANGS, Ohio. He is the key enlisted advisor to the wing commander regarding matters of operational effectiveness and the organization, training, and equipping of enlisted Airmen. He works in concert with wing senior enlisted leaders to oversee professional development, readiness, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of more than three hundred Intelligence professionals.
He entered the Air Force in May 1998. He graduated from Electronic Warfare Systems technical school at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., in January 1999. His active-duty career includes multiple assignments as an Electronic Warfare Systems technician at bases in Florida. He separated from active duty in May 2004 and entered the Ohio Air National Guard in April 2007. He cross trained into the control and warning systems career field and performed multiple primary duty roles. In 2015, Hansel became a First Sergeant where he served in multiple locations until July of 2020. Over the course of his career, he has deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, AIR DEFENSE OFTHE ARABIAN GULF, FREEDOM SENTINEL, INHERENT RESOLVE, and RESOLUTE SUPPORT. Prior to assuming his current position, he was the Senior Enlisted Leader, 178th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group, Springfield ANGS, Ohio.
