The 178th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group celebrated a change of command ceremony for their newly appointed commander, Col. Daniel M. Sutch, at Springfield Air National Guard Base in Springfield, Ohio, Oct. 15.

Sutch, a native of Clark County, Ohio, was promoted from his position as deputy commander of the 178th ISR Group.

The outgoing 178th ISR Group commander, Col. Rebecca L. O'Connor, said Col. Sutch is best qualified for the job.

"I'm leaving you in exceptionally capable hands," said O'Connor. "I'm leaving you with someone who cares about your mission, your success."

Sutch said he was grateful to his predecessors, Col. John "Jocko" Thomson and Col. O'Connor, for the group they left behind for him to lead.

"Each of us has our own reasons for enlisting but, once in uniform, we need to find meaning in our military service and there are many ways to do so," said Sutch. "Members of the 178th ISR Group demonstrate this all the time."

The 178th Wing commander, Col. John F. Knabel presided over the ceremony.
