The only sure thing in life is death and taxes, as the old adage goes. With the April 15 filing deadline looming, there are beneficial resources Airmen can use to effectively complete their taxes while maximizing their returns.

Military OneSource offers free tax consultation and electronic filing to eligible service and family members at Springfield-Beckley Air National Guard Base.

Military OneSource tax experts provide support for service members and their families to file their federal, and up to three state tax returns.

Specialized support helps service members maximize their refunds and properly fill out tax forms.
Service members can complete their taxes with a trained professional, or drop off their forms and return at a later, specified time to complete the filing.

Articles found on the Military OneSource Personal Financial Management and Taxes page provide specialized tips for filing taxes when a service member is deployed.

Military OneSource also provides financial counseling to assist with budgeting, money management, and debt consolidation.

Guardsmen may also be entitled to a tax break for unreimbursed business expenses for drill mileage, lodging, meals and other incidental expenses. The adjustment to income for expenses applies to costs incurred for travel exceeding 100 miles from your home of record to fulfill military duties.
