Deployed 178 FW Airman named 'Warrior of the Week' Published June 3, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Tina Maddock 178 FW Public Affairs SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Senior Airman Christopher Morris, a deployed member of the 178th Fighter Wing Sustainment Services Flight, was selected as "Warrior of the Week" in April at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyz Republic. He was chosen because of his involvement in base activities as the intramural sports director. "In layman's terms I would say I set up sports for everyone to play so that they can enjoy their time while they're not working," said Airman Morris. Nine members of the 178 FW Sustainment Services Flight are deployed to Manas AB. Airman Morris uses his free time to ensure that others enjoy their free time, but he doesn't see it as work. "Sports are definitely where I feel at home," said Airman Morris The intramural sports provide a fun group activity for deployed Airmen. "First and foremost, it's physical readiness for all mission requirements in any field. Secondarily, it's a great way to alleviate stress and pass the time you have here," said Airman Morris. Airman Morris has been at Manas AB since Feb. 12.
